The Top Five OG Motivational Speakers #personaldevelopment#lifecoaching
As we cruise into 2024 - it's a great place to review some of the 'originals' of personal development. Here's a quick overview with some links if you would like to see or hear any of these guys.
There are others, but I'd like to offer this overview of five very influential motivational speakers that emerged in the twentieth century.
Earl Shoaff (1916-1965): Earl Shoaff was an early pioneer in the
personal development and motivational speaking realm. Active in the 1950s and
1960s, Shoaff significantly impacted Jim Rohn, who later became a prominent
motivational speaker himself. Shoaff's influence is indirect but substantial,
as his teachings laid the foundation for Rohn's philosophy and subsequently
influenced a vast audience through Rohn's work.
Earl Shoaff's content may be more limited due to the era he was
active in, but search for vintage recordings or interviews. Look for channels
dedicated to personal development and motivational content from the mid-20th
century.
Earl Nightingale (1921-1989): Often regarded as the "Dean of
Personal Development," Earl Nightingale was active from the 1950s to the
1980s. Nightingale started out by accident. He began by recording monthly recordings to distribute to his sales teams, and they were so well-received that he got a recording contract out of it! Possibly one of those who broke the mail-order technology to spread his message. His most famous work, "The Strangest Secret," was a
groundbreaking spoken-word record that reached millions. Nightingale's
impactful words resonated with diverse audiences, fostering a positive mindset
and inspiring countless individuals to pursue their goals and dreams.
Earl Nightingale's famous recording "The Strangest
Secret" is widely available on YouTube. Search for this title, and you
should find the original audio recording along with videos discussing his
teachings.
Zig Ziglar (1926-2012): Active from the 1970s until his passing in
2012, Zig Ziglar was a charismatic motivational speaker and author. His
motivational approach emphasized the importance of a positive attitude, setting
goals, and building strong relationships. Ziglar's impact extended beyond his
speaking engagements, reaching a diverse audience through books, audio
programs, and corporate training events, leaving an enduring legacy in the
world of personal development.
The official Zig Ziglar YouTube channel is a great place to start.
Look for videos featuring Zig Ziglar's speeches, interviews, and snippets from
his training sessions. His content often focuses on motivation, sales, and
personal growth.
Jim Rohn (1930-2009): Jim Rohn was a renowned motivational speaker
and self-help author whose influence extended from the 1960s until his passing
in 2009. He was a mentor to influential figures like Tony Robbins, imparting
timeless wisdom on personal development, goal setting, and financial success.
Rohn's teachings continue to inspire millions globally, shaping individuals'
perspectives on life and business.
Search for Jim Rohn's seminars and interviews on YouTube. Look for
videos where he imparts wisdom on personal development, goal setting, and
success principles. "The Jim Rohn Legacy" is a popular channel that
may have relevant content. Check out the final interview with Jim Rohn here.
Brian Tracy (1944-present) is an interesting guy. He's was heavily influenced by Napoleon Hill's 'Think and Grow Rich. Brian Tracy, a contemporary of Jim
Rohn, emerged as a leading motivational speaker and success coach in the late
20th century and remains active today. His prolific career has influenced
individuals worldwide, offering insights into time management, goal setting,
and personal achievement. Tracy's work spans books, seminars, and online
platforms, reaching a broad demographic and empowering people to unlock their
full potential.
