How Could I Increase My Audience with Social Media? #personaldevelopment#lifecoaching
The Digital age is here to stay. And with AI now a reality, in the digital age, building and expanding an
online audience is crucial for many business’ success. You may be a blogger,
content creator, or a business owner. As I have begun to navigate the intricate
world of social media, I thought I'd share some strategies that may help you to
significantly increase your audience and engagement.
1. Brand Identity:
Before diving into social media, it's essential to establish
a clear and consistent brand identity. Define your niche, mission, and values,
ensuring that your content reflects who you are and what you stand for.
Consistency builds trust, making it easier for your audience to connect with
you. Niche defining has been a real struggle for me, as I lacked a clear idea
at the outset and devised avatars and ideas based on the wrong demographic. The
advice here, is don’t doggedly hang on to an out-moded idea. Use old ideas to
encourage flexibility, but find your niche!
2. Choose Your Platform:
Identify the social media platforms that align with your
content and target audience. Each platform caters to different demographics and
interests, so focus on the ones where your potential audience is most active.
For instance, Instagram might be ideal for visual content, while X may suit
those who thrive on concise, timely updates.
3. Quality Or Quantity?
Rather than bombarding your audience with a constant stream
of content, prioritize quality. Craft engaging, relevant, and shareable content
that adds value to your audience's lives. High-quality content is more likely
to be shared, expanding your reach organically. In some respects, this advice
has limited value. An influencer like Gary Vee would encourage you to post
often, obsessively and across platforms. However, he would recommend you choose
your platform wisely.
4. Visual Appeal:
Visual content has a powerful impact on social media. Invest
time in creating eye-catching graphics, images, and videos that resonate with
your brand. Utilize platforms like Canva or Adobe Spark to easily design
visually appealing content, enhancing your overall social media presence. Canva
s been a boon for me. As with Clipchamp, there are free versions available, but
I’d advise getting a subscription to unlock lots of groovy new stuff – especially
AI-related media.
5. Audience:
Social media is a two-way street. Respond to comments,
messages, and mentions promptly. Foster a sense of community by asking
questions, running polls, and encouraging your audience to share their
thoughts. Engagement not only strengthens your connection with followers but
also boosts visibility through algorithms. My Achilles heel. I really should
run more polls and quizzes.
6. Hashtags:
Hashtags are powerful tools for expanding your content's
reach. Research relevant and trending hashtags within your niche and
incorporate them into your posts. However, be mindful not to overuse them, as
this can appear spammy and dilute the impact. It’s useful to use Googles free
SEO Optimiser service to see what is going well. Also Google Trends will
provide insights for you.
7. Collaboration:
Leverage the power of collaboration by teaming up with
influencers, fellow content creators, or brands within your niche.
Collaborations can introduce your profile to new audiences and create mutually
beneficial relationships.
Growing an audience on social media required a combination
of strategic planning, engaging content, and consistent effort. By defining my
brand, selecting the right platforms, focusing on quality content, fostering
engagement, and leveraging strategic tools, I increased my online presence and
connected with a broader audience. Embracing the ever-evolving nature of social
media, staying authentic, allowed me to watch my audience expand. Remember it’s
all about scale. Be aware that your scale of growth is proportionate to your number.
You may feel ‘small’ for some time, but hang on in there!
